State Bar of Texas
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section
About Us
Fostering Excellence in Mediation, Arbitration, and Collaborative Justice.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section of the State Bar of Texas is dedicated to promoting the use and quality of alternative dispute resolution methods throughout the state. Our mission is to educate the public about ADR and serve as a valuable resource for practitioners and legislators regarding its proper role in Texas.
Established to foster the advancement of mediation, arbitration, neutral evaluation, and collaborative law, the ADR Section offers numerous benefits to its members. These include opportunities to network with professionals across various ADR practices, access to reasonably priced Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs featuring influential figures in the field, and numerous ADR-focused CLE articles that provide updates on the latest cases, ethical considerations, and developments in ADR.
Our governing body, the ADR Council, comprises 18 members who provide program and policy leadership for approximately 1,200 statewide attorney and non-attorney members. The Council is involved in a variety of activities and committees, focusing on areas such as continuing education.
In alignment with our mission, the ADR Section collaborates with TexasBarCLE to offer specialized courses designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of ADR practitioners. For instance, the “Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution 2025” webcast was presented on January 10, 2025, providing 6.5 hours of MCLE credit, including 2.5 hours of ethics.
Membership in the ADR Section is open to all members in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. By joining, members gain access to a supportive community committed to the effective administration of justice through alternative dispute resolution.
